Entertainment
Entertainment on the internet has been its number one trend ever since its inception. It has been the reason why it has evolved so much and has caused controversial and cynical issues. Although the internet has created a lot of opportunities for what wouldn’t have been there it sure is a believing and trustful island.
The different readings I did for this session “Computation Nations and Swarm Supercomputers”, “Digital Technology and Cultural Goods”, “Technological and Social Drivers of Change in the Online Music Industry”, “The People Own Ideas”, “Mixing it up on the Web: Legal Issues Arising from Internet “Mashups””, “Snack Attack!” all focused on the different aspect of entertainment use and misuse on the internet.
The music industry is growing in ways that have included the internet has its number source of dispersion, with the emergence of MP3 players especially the Ipodtm. This has created more sites that are willing to freely distribute both movies and music at expense of introducing new forms of sale. Limewiretm for instance would willing let you download music with a basic package but are also offering a premium package for a fee. The former even though violates the copyright has a backup in the later in a different form of attraction to people. The has made the law of piracy and copyrighting more stringent on the internet and has lead controversial, why arrest peole who sell pirated movies and not music and not site that openly distribute them. Laws and regulation governing the internet clearly monitors its use and eventhough there are different questions arising from its use everyday there are still profits made in spite of the different legal issue and its potential damaging effects in the future.

You asked the question of why people who sell pirated movies are arrested and not music nor sites that openly distibute them. My guess to this question is that users want things for free and not have to pay for it. Also, if their are more sites that replace those that sell pirated movies than users can enjoyed for freely the entertainment. I can understand that people's work or creativity is being accessed to users freely which can be wrong in some people eyes. However, in others it's a way to keep the consumer happy knowing that all they have to do is download a song, book, or software for free.
I like the differentiation you made with regards to the copyright infringer's, more specifically those of the Music vs. Movies. I agree, why is the law becoming specific to one particular area of media. Everything from Music to Movies to Software is being pirated and distributed freely but who is really causing the disturbance with regards to the right to sharing, its the music industry most of the time. You made the comment "The has made the law of piracy and copyrighting more stringent on the internet", but has it? It might be more defined but is it being enforced? Rarely. If it is, we usually don't hear about it.
